Opened in 1971, R.J. Grunts is the first Lettuce Entertain You restaurant and has been serving Chicago with its funky, retro spirit ever since. Located in the heart of Lincoln Park across from the Lincoln Park Zoo, it's a neighborhood favorite known for its lively atmosphere and nostalgic charm. The menu is packed with American classics, including burgers, sandwiches, malts, and shakes, plus a fresh digital salad bar inspired by Chicago's first salad bar. Whether you're visiting with family, grabbing a casual meal, or stopping by for late-night Happy Hour (Thursday-Saturday from 8 to 10PM), R.J. Regarding seating, tables in our front room or on the patio overlooking the pond are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Groups of more than four guests are seated in our main dining room. While we accept reservations for parties of up to eight people, these must be booked internally by contacting us at host@northpondrestaurant.com.
